It’s true. The lifetime Yankee Jorge Posada who has been my favorite catcher for as long as I can remember has officially announced his retirement from baseball. I know Posada hasn’t been the best hitter of all time and doesn’t exactly have the best stats, but you can’t doubt his talent. He has won 5 championships during his 17 year career and has proven to be a true leader, taking initiative when the team needed him. He even was named as part of the Core Four along with Andy Pettitte, Derek Jeter, and Mariano Rivera. Next season, we can only expect to see Jeter and Rivera representing the clutch group and we’ll have to wait at least another 5 years to see if Posada will be voted into the Hall of Fame, but no matter what I will definitely miss seeing #20 on the field.
