As a HUGE Tim Burton fan, I cannot wait to see his latest film Frankenweenie, a remake of his 1984 short film that pays homage to the classic Mary Shelley story of Frankenstein. In his latest stop motion masterpiece, Burton tells his audience about a boy, Victor, who loses his beloved dog. Desperate to have his best friend back, Victor takes drastic measures and brings his dog back to life. I was recently watching an episode of Face Off where the contestants had to create a “Burtonesque” character. One contestant described Burton’s work as a sweet core wrapped in barbed wire. What better way to describe the twisted mind of Tim Burton?
You’ve got to love the man though. No matter what he does he stays true to himself and does what he enjoys. Burton seems to always find a way to not only satisfy himself, but also his audience with his signature work. There is no doubt that Tim Burton is a true auteur in film and nobody can duplicate his style so effortlessly. If anything, take a note from Mr. Burton… be yourself, be sincere, and, if you don’t love it, don’t do it. With that said I’ll be counting down the days till October 5, 2012. Enjoy the trailer for Frankenweenie!
