The Life of the Damned

Damned if you do.
Damned if you don’t.
Choose one
and the other suffers,
so how do you move forward?
Do you choose the path of least resistance?
The one that will carry on the facade,
but will break your back underneath the cloak.
Or do you choose the one where fire awaits?
The one that will break you down each day
until you can only build yourself up.
Do you choose to please others?
The ones who make life unlivable.
Or do you choose to please yourself?
The one you have to live with forever.
Damned if you do.
Damned if you don’t,
but not if you choose what you can’t live without.
