The Shadow

Standard

.

The past is the past,

but it is also a presently casted shadow.

It will move perfectly with you,

following your every forward step.

It will mimic your figure,

but its regressive position

will only allow a distorted image.

It will always be with you.

Always on the heels of your feet,

whether you choose to notice it or not.

But, if you look toward the sun,

it will forever be behind you,

never permitting it to consume you.

Look back

and it will be there,

but look forward

and the past will be the past,

simply a presently casted shadow behind you.
