For Once

Of my eyes,

you are the light.

But, for so long,

it seemed like

I was never in your sight.

I was never paid the respect I gave you.

Perhaps, because

you never thought it was due.

I only asked for some recognition.

I wanted support for my very own mission.

I didn’t expect hesitation and suspicion,

but, alas!

You gave me your submission.

For once,

you made me alpha.

For once,

I was your priority.

For once,

my work was worth it.

For once,

my loyalty gave me authority.

And, for that,

thank you,

with all genuine sincerity.
