Bopping Betty

Her head bops from side to side,
her hair swishes in the wind,
and she seems to skip across the concrete.
Headphones protect her ears
from everything,
except the beat she wants to hear.
This beat is of her own step,
her own heart.
They’re the drums that make her complete.
She only listens to her own mind.
This girl is free from society’s bind.
What a beautiful thing she is!
I admire how she moves freely in the air.
I wish I could bounce like her,
living life without a single care.
