The Things You Do

Why is it that

no matter what

you always find a way.

Sometimes passive,

sometimes aggressive,

but you always find a way.

How do you do it?

How do you know

what will get me going?

With a smile on your face,

you place me right where you want me.

Just like that.

You make it look so easy.

it’s getting hard to be quiet.

It’s getting hard to bite my tongue.

You’re testing me each day

and I fear I might fail.

I fear I might pass.

Just as you fear of how well I’ll do.

But tempt me again

and I just might break my silence,

a vow promised to myself.

A vow that once broken

may very well lead to trouble.

It could bring freedom,

but it might cause a burn.

Either way,

I fear what I’ll say and do,

but, in the meantime,

I’ll wonder why and how

you do the things you do.
