Christina Aguilera is undoubtedly among my favorite singers of all time and she very well may hold that top spot. I’ve been listening to her music since I was in elementary school and her first single “Genie in a Bottle” came out. Of course, it was the hype of the pop music phase that got me hooked on Christina, but I was soon captivated by her unbelievable talent and her ability to inspire others. Once Christina got more control of her song choices, her music evolved with the purpose of inspiring and uplifting her listeners, most definitely including women. “Fighter,” “Can’t Hold Us Down,” and “Beautiful” are just some of her songs that show how positive her music can be. Yes, there are some risque songs and a few that flow back to her pop roots, but, for the most part, I can greatly relate to her music, which is why she continues to be one of the women I look up to most. Say what you want about Christina, but there’s no denying her positive message, you can’t overlook her blessed vocal chords, and she never had a mental breakdown that ended in her freaking out in front of countless cameras. So, in honor of Christina’s birthday today, I wanted to share her video “The Voice Within” with you all. Enjoy!
